WE had spent the working day sailing – legs dangling more than the side of the boat, ingesting in views of the cleanest, clearest azure- blue waters.

As the sunshine went down we settled into loungers around the rooftop pool, cocktail in hand, and admired the boats bobbing about in the harbour.

It was as zen and tranquil a day as I can remember.

Majorca may possibly be known for Palma’s stylish purchasing and society and Magaluf’s entire-on get together atmosphere.

But in the small town of Colonia de Sant Jordi we found a pretty different, laid-back aspect to our favorite holiday isle.

On the south east coast, only 40 minutes from the airport, Colonia de Sant Jordi is a former small fishing village, well-liked with the Spaniards, several of whom have 2nd houses in this article.

I was remaining at the Resort Honucai, a boutique gem proper on the seafront, with just 76 rooms.

There’s a health and fitness center and spa but the star of the exhibit has to be the rooftop pool and bar.

There you can enjoy yoga at dawn, chill by the pool about lunch and then chill out with sundowners at the bar by evening.

The hotel’s Mediterranean decor is light-weight, airy and modern day and a ton of the ornaments are sourced from the island.

This theme carries on into the rooms, which are fantastically embellished and equipped with every little thing you will need.

They boast magnificent sea sights, complete with comfortable outside sofas that are best for reading your e book on (as I did).

But the resort also gives adjoining rooms which would be excellent for individuals with youngsters.

On Saturday evenings “The Top”, the hotel’s rooftop bar, has dwell songs participating in, as well as scrumptious cocktails served every single evening.

The seats at the rooftop bar double up into daytime sunbeds, so you can catch the rays though having in the views and making the most of a dip in the delightful plunge pool.

The hotel’s cafe, Salicornia, specialises in seafood, serving the freshest local create.

I ate some of the very best fish dishes I have tasted, like scallop ceviche, tuna tartare and squid-ink croquettes.

I even experienced refreshing tuna on flatbread, a classic Majorcan speciality.

An additional deal with was the chance to see a demonstration of the artwork of Ronqueo, the tradition of filleting gargantuan bluefin tuna — or pink tuna as it is recognized in Spain.

The identify comes from the sounds the specialist fishmonger makes as his knife cuts into the fish.

It was intriguing to see the approach utilized by the Ronqueo grasp as he diligently lower to guarantee just about every component of the fish was completely well prepared.

And even though the resort has so substantially to offer you, there is also loads to do nearby.

For a a little different working day out we visited Ses Salines d’Es Trenc to see how salt is harvested on the island.

Hidden gem

Not only is the landscape breathtakingly wonderful, but I even obtained to just take part in the gathering of the salt, in advance of drying it and using my very own pot house with me.

We took to the waves with boat tour business Nautica Colonia to examine Majorca’s extraordinary shoreline, halting off in the distinct- blue waters to swim and snorkel, while admiring some of the superyachts.

Also value a vacation is the fishing village of Cala Figuera, only a 20-moment travel from the lodge.

Every corner I turned opened into a lot more spectacular sights of this idyllic port.

It’s the great working day out for a stroll adopted by lunch or a consume overlooking the drinking water.

If you are just after the feeling of sand among your toes then there is a small seaside just metres from the lodge.

And if you extravagant checking out even more, verify out the clean up sands of Es Carbo, simply accessed by pursuing the coastal route.

People up for an action won’t be dissatisfied, with kayaking and paddle boarding also on offer.
